County Council Award:
On behalf of our group, Suella Holland applied for a Meath County Council Grant in connection with the launch of our new and improved website. She was very successful in her application and as a result has received €500.
Details of the website launch are as follows:
A music and arts evening to be held in Solstice Arts Centre, Navan in July (possibly 28th July) to launch Meath Arts Group’s new website.
An image relevant to Meath will be chosen, enlarged and printed. This will then be divided into thirty separate sections, which will be divided and given to thirty different artists. (20 images to be prepared before the event, the final 10 to be finished on the night). Each artist will be given a numbered 45 x 35cm (18 x 14in) canvas and asked to reproduce the work via the outline they have been given, in their own style, on the canvas in their own chosen medium.
Solstice Arts Festival – June 20 -26th: Following a meeting with Belinda Quirke, Director, Solstice Arts Centre concerning the first annual Solstice Arts festival Meath Arts Group will be holding a group exhibition in Navan . Artists can submit one or two pieces of art each because of space concerns and depending numbers interested in exhibiting. Jim has organised this group show to run from June 20th to July 1st with the management team at the library. This exhibition will open, at the library, on Thursday evening 23rd June at 7pm. All members are welcome to enter.
A date has been fixed in another idea for an arts trail in the town, in a mission to “Art It Up”, for next Monday evening, the 16th May at 7pm. Artists interested in being involved here can gather at the Stonehouse, in a plan to walk the town of Navan to source suitable locations and exterior platforms to exhibit Art Installations created from recycled materials and found objects by any individuals interested.
It was also agreed that if artists wanted to exhibit their work as a solo or group exhibit within interior spaces that the concerned individuals must approach the owners of vacant shop units themselves for this festival.
Solstice Festival has also approached the group, with an invitation to get involved in the ‘Colour and Joy’ Parade taking place at noon on Thursday the 23rd June. Anyone interested in this should get in touch with Sharon as soon as possible.
