Arts Festival Trail
Following a walk around the town of Navan by a small group of members, (the goal being to find suitable empty shop locations, for solo/joint exhibitions work during Arts Week ) Sharon Maher-Bordalo (Chairperson), met with Auctioneers concerning the idea of an Artist Trail using these shop units. The auctioneer liked the general idea and will get back to us shortly as to whether it is feasible or not. The walking arts trail takes around half an hour to 40mins within Navan town centre. The availability of shop units will be further discussed at a meeting on Friday 10th June in The Stonehouse at 8pm. This is a first come first served ethos to members, so avoid disappointment research the area and book your unit early through Sharon. The title of the trail is ‘The Enlightenment Trail’ and a map of the trail zone will be on our web-site once all venues are confirmed. Guided tours will be made available and the schedule will be announced in due course. Launch night for the Arts Trail is Monday 20th June.
Colour and Joy Parade
Thursday 23rd June sees the ‘Colour and Joy’ Parade starting at the Fair Green and 12pm. Each community group is asked to choose a colour and follow the parade route around the town. Any members interested in joining in this event please contact us at meathartsgroup@gmail.com
Website relaunch Project
All 30 canvasses for the website relaunch project were assigned. An image relevant to Meath was chosen, enlarged, segmented and loosely drawn over the 30 canvasses. Each artist received a numbered 45 x 35cm (18 x 14in) canvas andhas been asked to reproduce the work via the outline they have been given, in their own style, on the canvas in their own chosen medium.
On completion all 30 canvasses will be brought together and arranged in order to present one large final image from all the separate segments. This promises to be very exciting as nobody will know exactly how the final image will look until it’s revealed on the night. It is planned to donate this artwork to the Meath County Council Arts Collection as a representation of your art, Meath Arts Group and visual arts in Meath.
An image relevant to Meath will be chosen, enlarged and printed eg. a Celtic image from the book of Kells. This will then be divided into thirty separate sections, which will be divided and given to thirty different artists. (15-20 images to be prepared before the event, the final 10-15 on the night). Each artist will be given a numbered 45 x 35cm (18 x 14in) canvas and asked to reproduce the work via the outline they have been given, in their own style, on the canvas in their own chosen medium.
On the launch night, the remaining 10-15 canvasses will be completed by guests at the launch. There will be local musicians entertaining everyone and a food and wine reception.
On completion all 30 canvasses will be brought together and arranged in order to present one large final image from all the separate segments in a specially designed pre-made frame. This promises to be very exciting as nobody will know exactly how the final image will look until it’s revealed on the night.
