  Elena Jfremova

Although Russian by heritage she spent most of her formative years in Turkmenistan where her father served as a diplomat. It was here that a Elena first developed an interest in painting. This interest honed her skills and inspired by the arid landscapes of Turkmenistan and her tutelage at the Turkmen Art School, she blossomed into the artist we see today. One of her life goals is to become a well-known, respected artist.

She’s inspired by the ordinary things that surround her - snippets of suburbia… places ,objects and moments out of her daily life: the ordinary and the overlooked - which isn’t always what it seems - but a world full of beauty found where you least expect it.

Just as the caterpillar becomes the butterfly, Elena’s style underwent its own chrysalis over the years. Her mind sought to roam free and once she tapped into what was in her heart Elena found she could express herself more freely through painting than through any other means.

Elena does not believe that art should only be the possession of the artist, collector, or critic. In her mind some people are intimidated by art, that if they do not have an educated opinion then their opinion is not valid. She thinks of art as something everyone should be able enjoy and judge for themselves. If a painting speaks to you or touches you in some way then that feeling is real and valid, regardless of what anyone tells you.

Elena’s art ranges from semi abstract to abstract but the one theme that is constant is that it all comes from deep within and is rich in detail and colour. It is a cathartic, intimate form of self expression and translation of various inspirations.

And as Elena herself believes 'Each of us should be inspired every day we are alive'.
