  Jim O'Brien

Jim is a self taught artist, working in oils, water colour and found objects. He was a member of the Banba Hall Group in the '60 s and had two solo art exhibitions in the '70s. Jim was a member of the Meath Art Group in the '80s which organized exhibitions and concerts. In the '90s  Jim was a founding member and Chair of the Watergate Art Gallery in Navan which ran for 5 years. At the same time he was, and still is, Secretary of the Heritage Art Group in Kells – working in conjunction with the Kells Summer Festival.

'The best exhibition I have ever seen was The Hours at IMMA.'

'you will see lovely things at Claude Monet's and you will think what I send very poor stuff in comparison. Just now I am dissatisfied with myself and dissatisfied with what I do, but I have just a glimmer of hope that I'm going to do better in the end
