Mette Roche Mette Sofie Roche, originally from North-Norway, has been living in Ireland for the past 30 years, currently in a restored barn in Co. Meath, where she has a small studio. Originally a hobby weaver and textile artist, strong traditions which she brought with her from Norway, she has attended evening courses in ceramic sculpture at Dunlaoghaire School of Art and weekend courses in watercolour painting with Pauline Bewick, renowned artist and watercolorists. Over the last few years she has attended evening classes with Marysia Harasimowicz in Dunboyne. She is a member of the Old Schoolhouse Art Group in Dunboyne since its foundation in 2001. Her preferred medium is textile but she also enjoys watercolour, sometimes mixed with Indian ink or soft pastels. Her art is inspired by her love of nature, many long walks along the sea shore or in the mountains and many hours spent working in and enjoying the garden. Her working environment as a social worker can also be a source of inspiration. She has exhibited with the Old Schoolhouse Art group for the past seven years at different venues in Co. Meath and with the Independent Artist’s Network in Dalkey in 2006. Her paintings and art work are in many private collections in Norway, England and Ireland. Art Gallery
