Solstice Arts Centre
Sharon met with Belinda Quirke, Director of Solstice Arts Centre, to review the “Missing Meath” Exhibition in January, 2013. This was very positive and Solstice have offered the group a slot for an exhibition early in 2014.
Bring along any ideas you may have for themes etc. to the next meeting.

Plein Air Week-end.
Sharon has applied for funding for a Plein Air painting weekend, at Bective Mill. This will take place on the last week-end in August and will include workshops. A list of names was taken of those wishing to stay at the mill over the weekend or visit during the day to take part in work shops

A warm welcome was extended to new member Noeleen Slevin.

Notes/Minutes taker
Margaret Maher has taken the notes at the meetings for the past 12 months and is now giving up the position. We need someone to take the notes at each meeting and email them to Suella. Any volunteers please contact Sharon or let her know at the next meeting.

A decision has been made to return to the first Monday of the month for our meetings. Should the first Monday fall on a Bank Holiday then the meeting will take place on the second Monday.

The next meeting has been arranged for Thursday February 7^th.
A decision was made to change from the Monday slot to accommodate members who were unable to attend. A discussion will be held at this meeting and members can put forward proposals or views regarding this change.

Missing Meath (The Evolution of a County)

Exhibition details:
Artwork drop off January 7^th9am – 5pm.
All work is to be labelled with the artist’s name; title of piece; medium; price and contact no. Please also note on the back which is the top (just in case). A receipt will be given to each person when work has been dropped off. Jim O’Brien and Mary Clarke agreed to be at the Solstice Reception to organize this. Members will be contacted to collect any unselected work on Jan 9^th and 10th.

Members are also asked to bring along any postcards for the group piece. It is hoped that each member contribute at least one.

It has been agreed with Solstice that committee members curate the work for the exhibition. Up to 5 pieces can be submitted with the guarantee that one will be chosen for the show. The selection of work will be made on January 7^th and 8^th.

Solstice staff will hang the show. Help may be needed for the hanging and on the day of opening to meet and greet and help with refreshments. Sharon took a list of names of volunteers.

There was a delay in the printing of the invitations but they will be ready for collection from the Solstice reception on Monday Jan 7^th. Members with specific requests for invitations can give a mailing list to the reception.

We hope to have a really good turn out for the opening so members are encouraged to invite as many people as possible.

The exhibition will open on the 12^th of January at 2pm. All welcome.
Solstice will charge a commission of 10% on all sales. The group felt that this was very reasonable and in general felt that the support received from the staff at Solstice, for this Group show, has been excellent and is much appreciated.

Workshops
Mette Roche has agreed to do a Felt-making workshop on one Saturday (to be arranged) for the duration of the exhibition. Any interested members need to give their names to Mette ASAP.

Application to Meath Partnership
Maria Brady and Thomas Diem spoke to the group about the possibility of Meath Arts Group applying to Meath Partnership for funding to cover cost of stalls in the RDS Craft Fair in December 2013. It was agreed that it would be discussed at Committee level and Sharon would report back to Maria.

Bru na Boinne Exhibition
March 28^th to April 18^th.
A list of people interested in taking part in this exhibition will be taken at the next meeting.
Jim O’Brien spoke about the limited space available and encouraged people to visit the Visitors Centre.

Well Done!

Congratulations to Anne Matthews on organising an exhibition in the D Hotel, Scotch Hall in Droghedaon the 12^th of December. 12 artists, created work to recognise 12 voluntary organisations, within the community. The night was a great success and the artwork is now on display throughout the town. There is also a calendar of the work available

Well Done!

Congratulations to Patrick Reel on his recent exhibition of over 30 paintings, in the Sol Gallery, Dublin. The exhibition was in memory of Mary Lavin.

The Dark Arts Trail was also a great success. Well done to all those who submitted work and attended the opening.

Congratulations to the Slane Craft Collective, Newgrange Mall, Slane. It is now open for business, and is a great place to buy unique, hand-made gifts.

December Meeting
The next meeting will be held on Friday Dec 14^th. This will also be our Christmas Party Night.

Finances
The intake of monies for the year, including fees and grants, was €840. A total of €777 was spent. This included Openings and Group Insurance. There is currently €212 in the account. There is not enough money to pay the Group Insurance in January. Many thanks to those who have paid their fees already and could the remainder please pay ASAP.
