A Miscellany of Stained Glass is the theme for February’s series of free talks. All talks take place in the Lecture Theatre

Sunday 19th, 3pm: Evie Hone – A Pioneering Artist, with Sighle Bhreathnach Lynch
Tuesday 21st, 10.30am: The world of the stained glass artist, with George Walsh, Artist
Sunday 26th, 3pm: Curating and creating contemporary stained glass, with Mary Mackey, Artist
Tuesday 28th, 10.30am: Contemporary stained glass commissions, with Peadar Lamb, Artist

Art Studies 2012
A series of evening lectures exploring Great Art in the Context of its Time continues through the months of February and March. Talks take place at 6.30pm on Thursdays in the Lecture Theatre. Tickets cost €8.50 and are available in advance from the Gallery Shop. (Concessions available).
Thursday 23rd February, 6.30pm: Vermeer:17th century Dutch Master painter, with Dr Adriaan Waiboer, Curator of Northern European Art, National Gallery of Ireland.
Thursday 1st March, 6.30pm: Illustrating the Finest Irish Stained Glass, with Dr Nicola Gordon Bowe, Associate Research Fellow, National College of Art and Design; Visiting Professor, University of Ulster.

Post Art – Timpeall an Domhain

Post Art – Timpeall an Domhain (Post Art – Around the World) is an initiative organised by Meath Arts Group to send art around the world for St Patrick’s Day. Artists are being asked to create an image (any theme) on one side of a blank postcard (A6 size) and post it in an envelope to fellow artists that they know around the world. Ask these artists to write a comment about your image on the back and/or create their own image to send back to you. All images must be received back in Ireland by March 14th in order to exhibit them for Navan’s St Patrick’s Festival.

We also welcome postcards from artists around the world. Please send your postcards to Sharon Maher-Bordalo, Meath Arts Group, Commons Road, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland.

Bective Mill

Bective Mill, near Bective Abbey, Trim Road, Navan approached the arts group wondering if there is any interest in a group getting together for a painting weekend. There is the option of full bed and board or just bed and breakfast. Prices are to be finalized but are very reasonable. Looking at May or June for a possible workshop weekend. Awakening — a celebration of Spring

ArtWorks (Mark Smith – Community Artist) is working with a number of acclaimed musicians on the 1st of February next Wednesday to celebrate the first day of Spring. They will be running a workshop with service users of Navan RehabCare that morning with the aim of creating a new piece of music that will sum up the beginning of Spring — the new buds on the trees, the singing of the birds and the freshness of new growth in the air. This new arrangement of music will then be preformed in Solstice Arts Centre in Navan as a Lunch Time Recital (1.00pm). Come along and enjoy the event entitled Awakening.

A fresh new Season is about to begin, lets celebrate it together by looking forward.
