Heather Buchanan
Ceramicist Heather Buchanan is an environmental artist, with metaphysical skills working through the earth medium clay incorporating mixed media such as glass, photography print and paint. Her exhibits are limited editions and completely unique vessels, collaborating within the universal realm and cosmic forces.
For Heather, a lump of clay is a blank canvas and the perfect invitation to express form, mood, colour and feelings within ‘the self’. Each creation evolves from a subconscious state brought to the conscious by sharing her feelings and inner emotions. Rhythmically through the wheel Heather produces a harmonic blend of form and spirit in each individual piece. Heather’s style, like her journey, has developed over the years through self discovery connecting each piece on a personal level, hence each creation is original and unique.
‘I like to travel throughout Ireland, Europe and other countries . . . in seeing exhibitions of historic and contemporary art of every ethnicity. It gives me great joy to see how others have dealt with some of the same cultural and social themes.’
