Margaret Maher
Born in 1968, Margaret attended Limerick College of Art and Design (1996-1991) where she completed a Diploma in Fine Art Sculpture and a Diploma for Fine Art Teachers. Margaret then moved to Holland until 1995 where she worked on various large Art projects and exhibited in local group exhibitions.
On her returned to Ireland Margaret began work on the Cain Adamnain manuscript. During this project she received expert tuition from Tim O’Neill, master calligrapher. The completed manuscript can be seen on display in Birr Library, Co Offaly.
Margaret began working as an Art Teacher in Ashbourne Community School in 1997 and is now Coordinator of the Art Department and visual display throughout the school.
One of the highlights of Margaret’s career as an artist was when one of her pieces of artwork was presented to Mary Robinson in 1998.
To date Margaret has continued to produce pieces of work to commission. These include paintings, watercolours and calligraphic pieces. She is currently working on commission pieces and new work for upcoming exhibitions.
